Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the concentration of NH4 +, by adding a substance having an NH2 group and another substance having an active Cl group to water drained from a smoke desulfurized or the like to compose the NH4 + into N2.
CONSTITUTION: A substance having an NH2 group (such as amino acid) having an NH2 group and a substance (such as NaClO) having an active Cl group are added to water drained from a smoke desulfurizer or the like. The pH level of the drained water is then adjusted to 2W9 (preferably 6). Treatment is effected at a temperature of 20W95°C to decompose NH4 + in the drained water into N2.
