Abstract

PURPOSE:To smooth a surface of a heating resistor after roasting and improve contacting property between a heat sensitive recording paper and the heating resistor by a method wherein meshes of a metal mask are located so as to be upright above electrodes and construct the heating resistor by screen printing. CONSTITUTION:In case a heating resistor 3 for a thick film type thermal head, comprising numbers of electrode 2 formed in parallel with each other on an insulating base plate 1 and the heating resistor 3 formed in a piece of bar substantially orthogonal to the electrodes 2, is constructed, a metal mask 4' for screen printing, having meshes 5' with a same pitch as that of the electrodes 2, is employed and located so that the meshes 5' of the metal mask 4' will be upright above the electrodes 2, thereafter, the screen printing is effected. The heating resistor 6' after the printing becomes convex between the electrodes 2, however, contraction of a volume thereof is caused after the roasting and a surface roughness of the heating resistor 3' becomes nearly smooth, i.e. within 1-3mum.
