PURPOSE:To double both the frequency observation and the oscillation control via one external terminal by providing an external terminal for frequency observation and oscillation control to the oscillation control circuit and thus giving the control to both the oscillation and its discontinuation, thus increasing the using efficiency of the external terminal. CONSTITUTION:Divider circuit 2 consists of two divider circuits 201 and 200 featuring the division ratio of 1/2, and the frequency of 1/4 oscillation frequency of oscillation circuit 1 is observed at terminal 5. For oscillation control circuit 3, the base of transistor 304 becomes lower than the reference voltage of terminal 4 when the terminal is earthed, and thus transistor 304 is turned on. Accordingly, transistor 306 is also turned on, and diode 101 is short-circuited equivalently to stop the operation of circuit 1. In case terminal 5 is released, circuit 1 performs the oscillation. Under these conditions, the voltage always emerges up and down at terminal 5 via the oscillation output, thus securing observation of the oscillation frequency.
