Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the extension of the maximum measurable distance, enhance distance measurement accuracy, and achieve lighter weight and smaller size by using the aspherical lens in which the curvature on the periphery becomes subsequently smaller than the curvature at the face vertex.
CONSTITUTION: The luminous flux emitted from a light emitting diode 1 of a narrow wavelength region to the extent of not generating chromatic aberrations by lens is refracted and converged by the projecting lens 2 provided with the aspheric surface in which the curvature of the periphery becomes subsequently smaller than the curvature at the lens face vertex. This luminous flux is radiated to the surface of the subject 7. The luminous flux scattered and reflected by the subject 7 is condensed to the photo detecting surface of a photoelectric conversion means 3 by the photo detecting lens 6 provided with the aspheric surface in which the curvature of the periphery becomes subsequently smaller than the curvature of the lens face vertex. When the light source 1 is moved, the centroid position of the reflected images incident to the photo detecting surface moves and the output electric signals of the elements 4 and 5 change. By utilizing this signal as the distance measuring signal, the distance measurement is accomplished.
