PURPOSE:To obtain a distance measurement part which has no movable part by detecting the presence of reflected light beams from light emitting elements and by discriminating which zone an object is in according to the combination of the presence of those reflected light beams. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element A and a projection lens (a) cross the angle of photodetection of a photodetecting element 1 in a shortest-distance zoneIby setting its angle of projection, a light emitting element B and a projection lens (b) cross the said angle of photodetection of the photodetecting element C in a short-distance zone II including the zoneIby setting its projection angle, and a light emitting element C and a projection lens C cross the said angle of photodetection in an intermediate-distance zone III including the zonesIand II by setting its projection angle. When an object is in the zoneI, reflected light beams of light beams projected from light emitting elements A, B and C are photodetected by the photodetecting element 1 and when the object is in the zone III, only the reflected light originating from the light emitting element C is photodetected. Further, when the object is in a zone IV, none of the reflected light beams is photodetected.
