Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a detector applicable for combustible liquid free from the harzard of electric shock by cutting or forming an optical route between two optical fibers connecting photodetectors and light emitting elements together with the fibers facing each other when the float vertically moving responsive to the liquid surface rises to the given level.
CONSTITUTION: A float 1 is so arranged to float on the surface A of a liquid 2, while a light shield plate 3 is erected on the top thereof. Two optical fibers 4a and 4b bent like a letter of L facing each other at a space, and photo detectors 5 and light emitting elements 6 are respectively connected to the fibers 4a and 4b. If the liquid level A is too low, the float 1 lowers until the upper end of the light shielding plate 3 is off the optical path joining both the fibers 4a and 4b. The light from the element 6 enters the element 5 whereby the control circuit 7 is allowed to determine that the liquid level is below a given one. Thus, proper control action is performed. As the liquid level A rises, the light fails to enter the element 5. Thus, the control circuit 7 detects that the liquid surface reaches a given level.
