Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of splash of red heated steel and to improve the capacity of mold, by plating the first layer of Ni or Co on the mold substrate, such as copper, copper alloy etc. and plating the second layer of Ni or Co alloy containing P or B. CONSTITUTION:Necessary part of the mold base body, such as copper, copper alloy, is coated by the first layer composed of one kind or more of Ni, Co and is coated by the second layer composed of one kind or more of Ni, Co alloy containing P; 1-2wt% or B; 0.7-1.5%. Moreover, as occasion demands, the base body is coated by the third layer composed of one kind or more of Ni, Co. Local damage of the mold surface is eliminated by the above mold for multilayer coating continuous casting and danger of breakout is dissolved. Also, exposure of copper base body is not brought about and life of the mold is prolonged and moreover, workability, product yield etc. ar improved.
