The light of the light emitting device 1 transmits through the smoke and is detected by a photo detector 2 to be sent into an amplifier 3 and a level judging circuit 4. If it is less than the set threshold value, an alarm circuit 5 is operated. The output of the amplifier 3 is integrated for a long period in an integrator 6. The voltage inversely proportional to the output voltage of the integrator 6 outputted from an inverting type direct-current amplifier 7 is gradually charged in a capacitor C through resistance R1 for time constant while Tr is in OFF state.
