Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent failure of commutation by controlling an ignition phase angle of the first gate signal to correspond to electric current of a convertor when two or more convertors connected in series are made to transfer to a steady operation from by-pass pair state.
CONSTITUTION: When thyristor convertors 101-10n in three phase rectifying connection are connected in series to use in DC power transmission or the like, a starting circuit of each convertor controls to advance and ignition phase angle of the thyristor corresponding to output from a convertor 22 by applying output of a current detector 14 through a convertor 22 and a switch 23 and output of a control circuit 15 to an adder circuit 24 to give a phase control circuit 16. By this means, a margin angle of a U-phase is sufficiently kept and failure of commutation is prevented because an operation signal RF is 1 and a DEB signal is also 1 at the point of a U-phase gate signal to satisfy an input condition of an AND circuit for commutation.
