Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:6- and 7-Carbamoylquinoline derivatives of formula I (the quinoline ring is substituted with the group of formula II in the 6 or 7 position; R1, R2, R3 are H or lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 6-Carbamoyl-1,4-dihydro-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic ethyl ester.
USE: Medicines having activity inhibiting enzymes and the respiration of cells and antibacterial activity against gram-positive and -negative bacteria.
PREPARATION: The condensation of an aminobenzene derivative of formula III (the benzene ring is substituted with the group of formula II in the 3 or 4 position) with an alkoxymethylenemalonic ester gives an enamine of formula V. Then the ring closure of the enamine of formula V is conducted to obtain the objective compound of formula I. Some of compounds of formula III are novel and these compounds are prepared by the condensation of a acid halide of nitrobenzoic acid with an amine and reducing the nitro group of the resulting amide.
