Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a catalytic converter low in detrioration of catalyst and in pressure loss but high in vibration resistance and heat resistance, by holding the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst between a pair of gas-permeable plates and installing the catalyst and the plates in an exhaust pipe in parallel with the flow of the exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of silica cloth catalysts 40 are overlapped with spaces 41. Fixing rods 42 are inserted into the catalysts 40 and the spacers 41, thereby integrating the catalysts with the spacers. The integrate piece is put in a box 43 so that the silica cloth catalysts 40 extend in the direction of the flow of the exhaust gas represented by the arrow A. The upper and lower ends of the fixing rods 42 are welded to the box 43.
