Abstract

Meanwhile, steam flowing through a speed matching valve 22 on a duct 21 drives medium and low pressure turbines 8 and 9 in an S turbine II independently of each other and controls their rpm. Although no steam flows through the low pressure turbine 2 of the P turbine I, the low pressure turbine 2 has no adverse effect for its interior is in the vacuum state and the operating region free from steam flow is below one half the rated rpm.
