Abstract

PURPOSE:To operate the turbine of a geothermal power plant depending on the gas content of geothermal steam, by running the turbine as a back pressure turbine with a turbine rotor which is not provided with low-pressure nozzles and blades or an impeller in the first period after the construction of the plant. CONSTITUTION:In the first period right after construction, during which the gas content of geothermal steam is high, blades and nozzles for two rear stages are removed from a condensation turbine which will be operated in the stationary state in which the gas content is low. Cooling water for a steam condenser 8 is stopped by a valve 23. A valve 19 is opened to discharge steam through an exhaust pipe 18. As for the sealing of a shaft, a sealing steam regulator 14 is dispensed with, by using a valve 24, because the pressure of an exhaust chamber is sligtly higher than the atmospheric pressure. A glass steam condenser 16 is used as in the stationary state. The steam from the exhaust pipe 18 is used for district heating or the like. Stages, which are removed when the turbine is used as a back pressure turbine, are not necessarily two rear stages 13, 20-22 but are appropriately determined in terms of the inlet steam pressure and temperature.
