Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a varistor appropriate to suppress sparks on the commutator of miniature motor and having an appropriate contact cleaning effect, by making electrodes consisting of silver and a glass of specific composition on the varistor consisting of ZnO and a glass of specific composition.
CONSTITUTION: ZnO of 6μ in average grain size is mixed at a ratio of 6:4 with glass powder which has an average grain size of 6 μ and consists of 30 to 45 parts by weight of B2O3, 10 to 40 parts by weight of BaO and 15 to 45 parts by ZnO and binds the former ZnO. Thereby, paste for the varistor is produced. Meanwhile, paste for the electrodes is composed of 80 to 98 parts by weight of silver and 2 to 20 parts by weight of glass frit containing at least two of B2O3, ZnO, BaO and PbO. For example, the paste for the electrodes is coated on a heat-resisting insulator substrate 21 and then baked, thereby making the silver electrodes 22W24. Thereafter, the paste for the varistor is coated and baked, thereby making varistor elements 32W37 are made on the varistor elements. Thereby, a spark suppressor for miniature motor is manufactured.
