Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare easily a thin varister with improved deteriotation of varister voltage, excellent voltage non-linearity, and excellent surge absorption by adding a solid solution of ZnO, Sb2O3, and Co2O3 to a mixture of ZnO and boric acid glass frit. CONSTITUTION:Preparing a varister composition by adding 2 to 8% by weight of a solid sulution consisting of 20 to 30% by weight of ZnO, 40 to 10% by weight of Sb2O3, and 40 to 10% by weight of Co2O3 to 100 parts mixture of 30 to 90% by weight of 0.5 to 10mu mean particle diameter ZnO and 70 to 5% by weight of 0.5 to 10mu mean particle diameter glass frit consisting of preferably 30 to 70% by weight of B2O3, 30 to 15% by weight of ZnO, and 35 to 15% by weight of BaO. Preparing a paste by mixing 55 to 95% by weight of the composition and 45 to 5% by weight of a solvent containing a particle binder. Screen printing with the paste on a substrate 1 on which a silver electrode 2 is provided to form a varister film 3, and then providing an electrode 2' on it.
