Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to focus beams on one point by an ultrasonic oscillator with blind-shaped electrodes by making electrode intervals and the phase difference of an applied signal satisfy the fixed conditions. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a piezoelectric substance, blind-shaped electrodes 4a to 4i are arranged in the longish direction of electrode fingers, and every n-th electrode is connected in common, so that a n-phase electrode can be constituted. Now, setting electrode intervals under fixed conditions enables ultrasonic beams to focus in one direction (X-axial direction). On the other hand, when electrodes 4a to 4i are applied with signals which are equal in fequency and out of phase satisfying the fixed conditions, ultrasonic beams focus in the Y-axial direction. They therefore focus on point F through combinational focusing in both X-axial and Y- axial directions. In addition, a plural number of different electrode groups are provided onto the surface of a single piezoelectric substance and applied signals are changed over to make it possible to obtain an ultra sonic wave which is able to vary its focal length. On the contrary, it is possible to detect an ultrasonic wave and convert it into electric energy.
