Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the resolution by increasing the area of an ultrasonic vibration plate used for receiving waves with the passage of time employing an ultrasonic probe wherein a plurality of stripelike electrodes are arranged. CONSTITUTION:The ultrasonic probe 11 has a plurality of stripeshaped electrodes Eal-Ea20 and Eb1-Eb7 provided on both sides of the rectangular ultrasonicvibration plate. The pulses serving as the refernce of transmitting or receiving waves are fed to a drive pulse generator 14, a scanning control circuit 15, a calibre control circuit 16 and a delay time control circuit 17 from a rate pulse generator 13. The calibre control circuit 16 opens or closes switches S1-S20 and switches SW1- SW7, for example, according to the distance of a focal point to be moved at the receiving of the wave to vary the number of the drive vibrators, namely, the calibre.
