Abstract
PURPOSE: To economically produce hydrocyanic acid in a high yield by subjecting a mixed gas contg. acetonitrile and methanol to gaseous phase ammoxidation in the presence of a compound metal oxide catalyst contg. Mo, Fe and an alkali metal.
CONSTITUTION: A metal oxide catalyst is prepared which has a compsn. represented by the formula (where Fe; 6W15 atoms and an alkali metal such as Li≤3 atoms to Mo; 12 atoms). In the presence of the catalyst a mixed gas consisting of CH3CN, CH3OH, NH3 and O2 or an O2-contg. gas, or further contg. steam or an inert gas is subjected to gaseous phase catalytic reaction at 300W600°C under atmospheric press. Wseveral atm. The molar ratio of NH3/(CH3CN+CH3OH) in the mixed gas is 0.9W2, esp. 1.0W1.5 and that of O21(CH3CN+CH3OH) 1W20, esp. 1W10. By this method hydrocyanic acid can be produced in such a high yield as above 70% on the basis of the total carbon of CH3CN and CH3OH.
