Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely obtain the stable low-temperature toughness, by employing the welding wire containing Ni and Mn as the indispensable ingreadients and restricted quantity of B and O, and by carrying out the welding of specified parent metals whose oxygen content is restricted.
CONSTITUTION: TIG welding is carried out under following conditions employing the welding wire which contains by weight percent such indispensable ingreadients as 8W15% Ni and 0.1W0.8% Mn, besides if necessary, contains under 0.15% Si, under 0.1% C, under 0.1% Al, and under 0.1% Ti, and also contains restricted quantity of under 0.003% B and under 200ppm 0. As the parent metal for welding is employed a steel containing 3.5W9.5% Ni and oxygen restricted to under 100 ppm; and the sum of oxygen content of above stated welding wire and twice of oxygen content of the parent metal is restricted to under 200ppm; under these conditions, the welding is carrried out.
