Abstract
PURPOSE: To collect high relative resistance dust by using an ion wind produced accompanying corona discharge.
CONSTITUTION: Grid-shaped metal-mesh electrode 4 is placed close to the front edge of fin 3 and immediately before dust collecting electrode 2 in parallel to it, and its potential is maintained equal to or below that of dust collecting electrode 2 by means of low-voltage power supply 7. By this, when D. C. high voltage is impressed between discharge electrode 1 and dust collecting electrode 2, an ion electric current and an ion wind are produced in the gas passage, ions are absorbed to metal-mesh electrode 4 and discharge takes place, and at the same time the iron wind passes gap 5 of metal-mesh electrode 4 and flows into low-speed region 6. Then, fine-particle dust, riding on this ion wind, is arrested and collected to dust collecting electrode 2, and coarse-particle dust, after being adsorbed to metal-mesh electrode 4, rides on the ion wind or the gas stream and is arrested and collected to dust collecting electrode 2. Since metal-mesh electrode 4 absorbes ion charge, back corona is prevented even for high relative resistance dust, and thereby dust collecting efficiency is improved.
