Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish movement of steel material to the target position without being tightened on the way by controlling a side guide arranged on the front and rear side of the rolling mill at three stages under a specified condition for setting the subsequent pass in a rolling line. CONSTITUTION:In the first control, an extra opening alpha is given to the preceding side guide G1 for the first control so as to tighten the steel material regardless of variation in the difference of the speed between the preceding and subsequent side guides SG1 and SG2 due to changes in the frictive repulsion estimated when a positioning is demanded. In the second control, after the movement of the side guide SG1 by the opening alpha, the side guides SG1 and SG2 are controlled with the former as a master and the latter as a slave. In the third control, a procedure after the side guide SG1 reached the preset target position, the guide is driven separately until the subsequent side guide SG2 reaches the target position.
