Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable free controlling and setting of a machining area within a certain range in the course of machining by constituting a device so that the position of a subguide can be controlled relatively freely in relation to the position of the main guide during machining. CONSTITUTION:A wire electrode 14 is pulled out from a feeding reel 4, passed through between brake rollers 22 and 23, through subguides 17 and 18 and then along the outer-peripheral part of the main guide 15, and there turned back. Then it is passed through a subguide 17', a capstan 24 and a pinch roller 25 and rolled up by a roll-up reel 6. Next, the guide 18 is moved so that an angle of the electrode 14 to the surface of a workpiece 41 between the guides 15 and 18 is made to by a minute angle beta and thereby the length l of the electrode 14 contributing to the machining at the moment is made to be optional. By this, a machining area can be controlled and set freely within a certain range and thus the time required for machining can be shortened.
