Abstract

The appts. comprises two fleshing machines arranged facing each other and joined by an intermediate transfer conveyor to carry half-fleshed hides from the first machine to the second for completion. The transfer conveyor can now be driven in reverse direction so that its band can collect the completely fleshed hide as it is delivered back from the second machine. Each fleshing machine pref. has a feed roller which pulls the hide out of the fleshing machine via a stripping cutter, and the transfer conveyor band runs between and around the two feed rollers. The insulation pref. comprises a supply conveyor, which carries hides to the first fleshing machine, and a discharge conveyor to carry completely fleshed hides from the transfer conveyor, pref. directly into a splitting machine. The supply conveyor pref. carries the hides between two superimposed bands fitted with lateral clamping slats, longitudinally staggered on the two bands. The operator has a chance to inspect and adjust the hide between fleshing machines; this is not possible with continuous transfer installations which are also much more expensive to install and complex to maintain.
