Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a permanent magnet excellent in coersive force by molding RCo (R represents rare earth element)-affiliated intermetallic compound into a magnet following a heat treatment at a specified temperature.
CONSTITUTION: RCo-affiliated intermetallic compound containing Fe, Ni, Mn, Cu and the like undergoes a heat treatment in the form of ingot or a fine crushed state. The ingot is finely crushed into less than 10μ pieces. These processes are conducted in a Ar atmosphere to prevent from being oxidized. Fine powder of the intermetallic compound is provided with epoxy resin as a binder and formed under pressure in the magnetic field. Finally, mold thus obtained is baked to solidify the resin of the binder to produce a permanent magnet excellent in the coersive force. The permanent magnetic thus produced is relatively soft, tough and easy to work and can be manufactured into a slim magnet product with an excellent coersive force.
