Abstract
PURPOSE: High-oriented undrawn yarns with specific intrinsic cold draw ratio are drawn with a cold pin or edge and heat treated under relaxation to produce title yarns easy to be woven or nitted becauses of thier good fancy effect and not high boiling water shrinkage.
CONSTITUTION: Undrawn polyester yarn 1 with 1.2-2.2 intrinsic draw ratio is wound around cold pin 3 in one or two turns between feed roll 2 and draw roll 4 that is revolving at a higher speed than feed roll 2 and cold drawn under conditions where the ratior of average yarn tensions before to after the pin is kept 1.5W 35.0 and the draw ratio is 65W90% of the intrinsic draw ratio and over 1.01 to form uneven yarn. The resulting yarn is heat treated with plate heater 5 between draw roll 4 and delivery roll 6 under relaxation of 3W10% overfeed rate at a temperature from 150°C up to the melting point. Undrawn parts distribute at a rate of 5W100 per 1 m yarn length, whose maximum length attains 40W100 mm and 5W30% in the total length.
