Abstract

PURPOSE: An inert gas is blown into a prechamber that is provided upside of the cooling chamber to cool gradually red-heated coke, thus increasing the cooling efficiency in the cooling chamber leading to stable operations.
CONSTITUTION: Red-heated coke discharged from coke furnaces is sent from inlet 5 into prechamber 3 to stay there. Then the coke is made to fall down in turn into cooling chamber 4. The recycled gas for extinguishing 7 is passed through the coke layer in chamber 4 and through the gas outlet with inclined flue 2 and exhausted from ring channel 9. Then the gas is heat exchanged and reused by recycling. An inert gas such as nitrogen or others is blown into the high-temperature zone in prechamber 3 to cool red-heated coke, thus raising up the isothermal lines of 800 and 600°C and narrowing the interval between them and extinguishing coke in chamber 3 in high efficiency with inhibition of the reduction reaction.
