Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the effect of the evolution of heat of a light source lamp and improve the reproducibility of measurement values by lighting the light source lamp with an automatic flashing means at the start of measurement and putting it out upon ending of the measurement and constantly supplying a small current to the light source light while not in measurement. CONSTITUTION:An analysis start signal S causes a light source lamp 1 to light and the light from the lamp 1 transmits between a refractive prism 4 and a sample cell 3, creating bright and dark images on a detector 9. From the detector 9, the pulse number within the range of the bright field part is fed to a video amplifier 10, where the mean value of measurements is taken and the digital quantity thereof is inputted to a D/A converter 13, by which a specific gravity value is measured. Upon ending of the measurement, a lamp driving circuit 17 goes OFF and the light source lamp 1 is put out. While it is held put out, a small current is constantly supplied to the filament of the light source lamp 1 through a preheating resistor 16 to eliminate the starting current at the lighting and prolong the life of the lamp 1.
