Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the long serivce life of the magnetic hed and achieve the high density recording by a vertical magnetization system by forming the shape of an auxiliary magnetic pole in a roller shape which is rotable along with the movement of a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A core 10 has a pair of leg parts (a), (a') and a bottom part (b) coupling the leg parts, this bottom part being wound with a coil 11. The shape of the leg parts has a side face 10a approaching slowly to a magnetic tape 13 and a side face 10b abruptly spacing therefrom. An auxiliary magnetic pole 14a is of a roller shape making contact to the magnetic tape 13 near the side face 10b of the leg parts and revolving along with the movement of the tape. The magnetic flux by the coil 11 flows like an arrow. In this way, the employment of the rotating auxiliary magnetic pole enables high density recording by a vertical magnetization system to be achieved while maintaining the long service life of the head.
