Abstract

PURPOSE: To incinerate chromium-containing sludge at low cost, by introducing partial combustion gas on the bed of a fluidized incinerator and incinerated ash containing sexivalent chromium into a reducing furnace.
CONSTITUTION: The chromium-containing sludge 7 is partly burned while a quantity of primary air 5 less than the theoretical quantity is supplied through an air box 2 to the bed 3 whereon the sludge 7 and, if necessary, auxiliary fuel 6 are provided. The partial combustion gas produced thereby is introduced into the reducing furnace 11, and the incinerated ash produced thereby and containing sexivalent chromium is also introduced into the reducing furnace 11 through a free board 4, a gas cooler 17 and an incinerated ash dust collector 18 so that the sexivalent chromium of the incinerated ash is reduced to trivalent chromium by the partial combustion gas of high temperature. Thereafter, the partial combustion gas is introduced into the free board 4 by a circulating blower 15 and then completely burned by secondary air 8. Therefore, the reduction is performed without using special high-temperature gas
