Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent surface roughening of the title wire rod and to reduce pickling time by dipping the wire rod in a coating agent of a specific concn. contg. an aq. soln. of NaOH and/or milk of lime to stick the agent after which the wire rod is heat treated and pickled to form uniformly oxidized scale on the whole surface of the wire rod.
CONSTITUTION: A scalped stainless steel wire rod with fats and oils sticked is dipped in a coating agent consisting of an aq. soln. of NaOH and/or milk of lime shown by g/l concn. in the oblique line range to stick the agent to the surface of the wire rod. The wire rod is then heat treated at high temp. and dipped in an aq. soln. of acid to be descaled
