Abstract
PURPOSE: To make temperature of cooling water supplied to respective cylinders as uniform as possible and thus to make combustion in respective cylinders uniform, by increasing the amount of cooling water passed to cooling water conduits for pre- heating suction air to cylinders, according as the cylinders are located farther from the inlet of cooling water to the cylinder block.
CONSTITUTION: Cooling water from radiator is supplied from socket 12 formed in one side wall of cylinder block 1 to water jacket 11. Cooling water conduits 23, 24, 25 for pre-heating the suction air are formed in the lower surface of intake pipes 19, 20, 21, respectively. Cooling water supplied from cooling water chamber 13 in cylinder head 2 joins together and is delivered to the radiator via outlet chamber 30 formed on the outside of intake pipe 21 of the third cylinde A3. By-pass conduits 34, 38 communicated to the cooling water chamber 13 are formed at the inlet end of conduit 24 for the second cylinder A2. By the restriction of hole 35 in gasket 22, amount of water passed to the conduit 24 is made larger than that supplied to the first cylinder A1, so that temperature of the second cylinder can be lowered
