Abstract
PURPOSE: A mixture containing n-butene and oxygen is brought into contact with a catalyst composition sontaining Co and Se, Zn, Nb, V or Ru at lowered reaction temperatures to produce 1, 3-butadiene in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: A gas mixture containing n-butene and oxygen is brought into contact with a catalyst of the formula (X is K, Rb, Cs or Tl; Y is Se, Zn, Nb, V, or Ru; when a=12, b=0.2-20, c=0.3-12, d=0.2-12, e=0.2-12, f=0.2-12, g=0.01- 4, h=0.01-4) at 200-450, preferably 250-400°C to form 1, 3-butadiene. The catalyst is prepared through conventional process and ammonium molybdate is preferably used as molybdenum source and as antimony source is used the oxide. n-Betene is preferably diluted with an inert gas when oxidized and the reaction pressure is normal to several atmospheric
