Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus described in the title which makes it easier to find breakage of a cooling pipe, which causes no leakage of furnace gas, which causes little leakage of water into the furnace, and which exhibits high cooling effect, by installing plural separate heat pipes, a portion of which is placed in the furnace wall and the other portion at outside of the furnace, and by equipping the outside portion of the heat pipe with a cooling apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: When a stave plate 4 receives heat load 2 from inside of the furnace 1, a heat pipe 24 laid in the stave 4 is heated so that water 22 is evaporated by the heat and reaches the fins 19 of the heat pipe 24 dipped in the cooling water flow contained in a cooling tank 15, where it is condensed to form water drops. The water drops descends into the stave 4 once again along wick 23. Cooling is continued by repeating this process. Cooling water enters from a header 12 through a feed pipe 13 into the highest cooling tank 15, where it cools the fins 19, then overflows to the next cooling tank through a pipe 16
