Abstract

PURPOSE: Fine powders of non-caking coal with high volatile content and formed coal are sintered and sieved and the undersize particles of non-caking coal with high volatile content are formed by pressing and returned to the heating furnace, thereby continuously making good-quality formed coke for blast furnaces from inexpensive non-caking coal with high volatile content as main feedstock.
CONSTITUTION: Fine crushed non-caking coal with high volatile content 1 and formed coal 2 for producing formed coke are charged into rotary horizontal type of heating furnace 3 in a weight ratio of 1/2W1/1 and sintered at 500W600°C to form coke. Formed coke 5 is separated from non-caking coal with high volatile content (that converts to char) 6 by means of heat-resistant screen 4. Char 6 are cut out of hopper in a prescribed amount and mixed adequately with binder 7 and coal formulated for formed coke 8 in kneader 9.
