Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:N,N-dimethylacetamide adduct of 7-[D(-)-α-(4-ethyl-2,3-dioxo- 1-piperazine-carboxamido)-α-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetamido]-3-[5-(1-metyl-1,2,3,4- tetrazolyl)-thiomethyl]- Δ3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid of formula I.
USE: An intermediate of antibacterial substance. A low toxic antibcterial agent effective to Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria a is obtained by eliminating N,N- dimethylacetamide group from the compound I.
PROCESS: The compound I is prepared by reacting a compound II with a reactive derivative of te compound III using N,N-dimethylacetamide as solvent
