Abstract

PURPOSE: To save the amount of hydrogen doners used by adding a part of liquid from a first denitrification process to a recycling nitration liquid and a netration liquid flowing into a second denitrification process in a nitration recycling system biological denitrification process.
CONSTITUTION: An organic waste water 1 containing NH4-N, such as urea, is allowed to flow into a first denitrification tank 2 under an anaerobic atmosphere. A nitration liquid 4 discharged from a nitration tank 3 under an aerobic atmosphere is recycled to the tank 2 at a flow rate usually 4-7 times that of the waste water. A part of the liquid from the tank 2 is added to the course of the recycling circuit. On the other hand, the rest 7 of the nitration liquid is mixed with a part of the liquid 5 at a retention tank 9 and then allowed to flow into a second denitrification tank 8. With such an arrangement, the concentration of oxygen dissolved in the liquid from retention tank 6 and 9 approximates zero before the inflow of the liquid respectevely to the tanks 2 and 8, thus preventing the consumption of hydrogen doner (e.g. methanol) due to the presence of oxygen
