Abstract
PURPOSE: To minimize the designing error of a hermetic compressor by enabling to determine the optimum values of the refrigerating capacity and the sound pressure level of the compressor merely by altering the sectional area of the suction inlet of the compressor if the displacement in the cylinder is made constant.
CONSTITUTION: The compressing element 2 of a compressor 1 consists of a cylinder 5, a suction silencer chamber 6 and an exhaust silencer chamber 7 integrated in a cylinder block 8, and a cylinder head 11. A suction tube 12 is provided at the silencer chamber 6. If the refrigerating capacity if improved, the sound pressure level of the compressor 1 is raised. However, the sectional area S of the tube 12 can be simply determined by setting the optimum values of the refrigerating capacity and the sound pressure level of the compressor within predetermined range of the ratio of the sectional area S of the tube 12 to the cylinder displacement V in designing of the compressor
