Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the history of oxygen utilization speed of activated sludge to be continuously and readily measured by providing dissolved oxygen meters measuring the dissolved oxygn quantity of mixed solution at two or more positions within measuring pipe.
CONSTITUTION: When a suction pump 4 is operated after closing a solenoid valve 20 and opening the solenoid valve 19 on the measuring pipe 3 side, the mixed solution 1 containing activated sludge in an aerating tank flows in the pipe 3 at a constant speed in the arrow direction and is returned to the aerating tank by passing through a spiral part 2. While the solution is flowing in the pipe 3, the organic substances in the mixed solution 1 are decomposed by the activated sludge and the dissolved oxygen in the solution 1 is consumed and decreases. Dissolved oxygen meters 5, 5' are interposed in the beginning end and final end part of the spiral part 2 of the pipe 3. The current values corresponding to the dissolved oxygen quantities are measured with the oxygen meter 5 at the beginning end part at the t1 time and with the oxygen meter 5' at the final end part at the t2 time. The dissolved oxygen concentration difference δC after the t2-t1 time is detected with an oxyge concentration difference detector 14, thus the oxygen utilization speed in the sludge may be readily and continuously measured.
