Abstract

CONSTITUTION: To Ni is added 0.0005W0.5% of lanthanum series rare earth elements ranging from La of atomic no. 57 to Lu of atomic no. 71, e.g. La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm and Sm. At this time, the content of Mn, Si, Co, S, Fe, N2, etc. inevitably contained in manufacture is controlled to less than 1.5%. In the resulting Ni alloy, the rare earth elements are precipitated on the Ni grain boundaries as intermediate layers and the layers act as a chip breaker to facilitate rupture along the boundaries, thereby enhancing the machinability and resulting in easy working.
