Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress a generation of arc when in a contactor turned off, by such means that when turning off the contactor, a thyristor main switch in chopper circuit be turned on to commutate a current in the contactor to the main switch, with an operation returned to a DC power control by the chopper circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When a contactor MS is turned off from an energized condition, opening operation of main contact MS, of a contactor MS will be firstly started by an opening of contact AC2. With a condition established for an AND gate G1, a main switch SM is turned on. A load current is commutated to the main switch MS, after the turning on, a chopper operation will be restored for firing a thyristor SS by an inversion of charge polarity of a commutation condenser C1. In case of the main contact MSM turned off, if under a condition with a charge voltage of the commutation condenser C1 incapable of commutating the main switch SM, an output of comparator COMP becomes zero to inhibit a firing of the main switch SM.
