Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive and small size circuit by providing a reverse directional semiconductor circuit-breaker commonly to each feeder circuit thereby reducing the required semiconductor circuit-breaker considerably.
CONSTITUTION: During the powering gate signal is provided to the thyristor 7 of semiconductor switching device 8a in the feeder circuit 1a, for example, to make it conductive thus to supply current from the rectifier 13 to the load. While when the load in the feeder circuit 16 is brought into regenerative state simultaneously, the regenerative current flows through the point 9b-diode 10b-semiconductor circuitbreaker 12-semiconductor switching device 8a-load in the feeder circuit 1a and through the point 9b-diode 10b-semiconductor circuit-breaker 12-inverter 6. When interrupting the forward current in the feeder circuit 1a under this condition, the current in the rectifier 13 is brought to zero while the regenerative current is interrupted by the semiconductor circuit-breaker 12 and the current in the feeder circuit 1a is brought to zero. While at the same time the thyristor 7 is blocked and the semiconductor switching device 8a is opened.
