Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the dust storing capacity of a vacuum cleaner, by providing an air flow deflector in a dust casing so that the flow of air sucked through a suction port is deflected toward the deepest part of a dust storing space.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary pressing plate 58 is provided on the tip of a rocker arm supported in the center of the bottom of a primary filter 30 so that the pressing plate 58 extends into the dust storing space 34. A check valve 25 is brought into contact with the front 36 of a filter frame 31 to deflect the flow of the sucked air toward the deepest part of the dust storing space 34. Large dusts in the sucked air are compressed and stored into the deepest part 39 of the dust storing space 34 by the pressure of the flowing air and the inertia of the dusts. After cleaning, the pressing plate 58 is revolved toward the deepest part 39 when a cord is wound around a reel. At that time, dusts adhering to the outside of a primary filter material 32 are removed therefrom and compacted into the deepest part 39 of the dust storing space 34.
