Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable platinum to be applied to a catalytic combustion type gas sensor of a complex shape by adhering a melt contg. an alkali dichromate as a component to the platinum surface and by thermally decomposing the melt to form a uniform Cr2O3 film on the platinum surface.
CONSTITUTION: An alkali dichromate such as K2Cr2O7 is melted by heating, and platinum is dipped in this melt or this melt is adhered to the platinum surface. The alkali dichromate is then thermally decomposed by heating to form a Cr2O3 film on the platinum surface.
