Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst of which the shape can be selected freely, by a method wherein a metal oxide is sprayed onto a ferrite-based heat-resistant metallic substrate to form a film of the metal oxide, and the thus film-coated material is used as a carrier for the titled catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas discharged from various kinds of combustion devices is formed by supporting a catalyst component consisting of a platinum group metal such as platinum, rubidium or the like on the carrier prepared by spraying the oxide of a metal such as aluminum, titanium or the like onto the ferrite-based heat-resistant metallic substrate to form the film of the metal oxide. The thus formed catalyst permits free selection of the shape according to the function of the device for which it is to be used, and has excellent heat resistance, corrosion resistance, useful life length and performance.
