Abstract

PURPOSE: To rapidly process emergency specimens by providing the passageway exclusive for transfer of the emergency specimens and the detecting part for detecting the presence or not of the sample vessels in the passageway to a sampler and performing interrupt sampling in preference to ordinary specimens when the emergency specimens are detected in the detecting part.
CONSTITUTION: A passageway 132 exclusive for transfer of emergency specimens, a drive part 134 for transferring the emergency specimens by making use of a flexible chain 133 and a detecting part 136 for detecting the presence or not of the sample vessels in the passageway 132 are provided to a sampler 100. When no emergency specimens exist in the passageway 132 and if the sample vessels 102 of ordinary specimens are set in the flexible chain 104 being transferred stepwise by the drive part 110, the sample vessels 102 are detected by the detecting part 112 and a sampling mechanism 200 starts operating to accomplish sampling operation. When the interrupt command of emergency specimens enters during this measurement, the sampling mechanism 200 processes only the ordinary specimen now under sampling then moves over to the sample vessels 136 of the emergency specimens and starts measuring the emergency specimens.
