Abstract
PURPOSE:To automatically detect the position of generating high spot, on purpose to make possible the labor saving, by setting the reference for detecting work, being obtained through the specified method depending on the measured value of the thickness in the direction of breadth, at detecting the high spot of the steel strip. CONSTITUTION:The thickness in the direction of breadth of the steel strip 3 is measured by the gaugemeter 4 traveling in the direction of breadth crossing the steel strip 3. Data of above measurement is regressed to the Fourier development or the polynominal as stated in separate paragraph; hereby, the profile in the direction of breadth of the steel strip 3 is obtained as the curve X(x). Against this curve X(x), the allowable error sigma is added or subtracted, and the curve X1, curve X2 are obtained; the reference for the detecting work is set by taking above curve X1 as the upper limit and the curve X2 as the lower limit; hereby, the high spot 5 is judged. These judgements are executed in the operator of the computer, etc., so that the manual handling like as the conventional method is unnecessary, the accuracy of detection is improved, and the labor is saved.
