Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the amount of dog-bone easily in high accuracy, by comparing the value of rolling load, calculated on the assumption of taking the slab thickness as the breadth, with the actual rolling load, and by calculating the amount of dog- bone from the difference obtained by above stated comparison. CONSTITUTION:Information on the rolling load obtained from the vertical roll 3 is inputted to the operator 7 through the load cells 5, 6; the operator sums up these rolling loads and obtains the rolling load PEX. On the other hand, the rolling load PCAL is calculated from information inputted from the setting console 8 to the computer 9. Two rolling loads PEX, PCAL, are inputted to the computer 10 which then calculates their ratio; this rolling load ratio is referred to the previously obtained relation between the rolling load ratio and the amount of dog-bone, and the amount of dog-bone is calculated.
