Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a load on an arithmetic device by storing the thickness values of the center part and end part of a material to be rolled while the material to be rolled is running, and by performing arithmetic by using those values only when the operator requires. CONSTITUTION:The widthwise center thickness of a material to be rolled is measured by fixed thickness gauge 4, and moving thickness gauge 6, while moving in the widthwise direction of the material, measures the thickness. The position of this moving thickness gauge 6 is detected by position detector 8. The measurement position of this moving thickness gauge 6 is indicated by setter 9. Signals from fixed thickness gauge 4, moving thickness gauge 6, position detector 8, and position setter 9 are inputted to arithmetic device 10, which calculates the representative shape value of the material to be rolled at an assigned position in on-line mode.
