Abstract

PURPOSE:To recognize the roll gaps of the instantaneous moment during casting by using the roll gaps having been measured at the non-casting time as reference values and adding the change amounts of rolls of the continuous casting time to this. CONSTITUTION:At the non-working time of continuous casting, the gap of each slag guide support roll is beforehand measured with a roll gap measuring device or the like which per se is known and said value is stored as a reference value for each roll pair. A roll displacement detector using a differential transformer or the like is disposed on the roll surface counter-opposing to the slab surface at the center of the roll barrel length to permit measurement of the displacement amount of the rolls for each roll pair. The detection values of the displacement detectors of the non-working time are stored in correspondence to the roll gap values as the abovementioned reference values. Next, the detection values of the displacement detectors of the abovementioned rolls of this time are compared to obtain the change amounts of the rolls. The change amounts are then added to the abovementioned reference values having been stored, whereby the roll gaps of the instantaenous moment at the casting are recognized.
