Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for adjustment of a regulating power supply at each exchanging of thermal heads by providing a reference resistance of a resistance value proportional to heating resistance value in the thermal head. CONSTITUTION:A reference resistance 201 proportional to the resistance value of a heating resistor is provided in a thermal head 103. When a constant current is applied from the constant current source 301 of a regulating power supply 104, the voltage generated by the resistance 201 is arithmetically processed in a square root circuit 302. Then, the voltage proportional to the square root of the resistance value of the resistance 201 is applied to a power amplifier 303 and the power corresponding to the heating resistance value is applied from the power source 301 to the head 103. Hence, the need for regulating the regulating power supply at each exchanging of the thermal heads is eliminated and the printer operation bebomes easier.
